Back in April, the Taiwanese based smartphone brand Asus confirmed that they will launch a new gaming smartphone. Well, now the company has officially unveiled their first gaming smartphone called Asus ROG Phone, and with this device, the company features its Republic of Gamers (ROG) branding. Moreover, the device is coming with the specifications gives a head to head competition with other gaming smartphones such as Razer Phone, Xiaomi Blackshark, and Nubia Red Magic. Specification
The all new Asus ROG Phone sports 6 inch FHD+ AMOLED display along with 18:9 aspect ratio, the screen has 90Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time and has 2160 X 1080 pixel resolution. The device is powered by 2.96 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and the company claims that it is the world’s fastest speed binned processor, and paired with 8 GB RAM along with Adreno 630 GPU for the graphical task. In terms of storage, the device has 128/512 GB of internal storage. Damn isn’t???
Moving to the camera department, the device has dual camera setup at the back with the combination of 12 megapixel + 8 megapixel with 120-degree wide-angle and supports Augmented Reality, along with an 8 megapixel front facing camera. Just like other gaming smartphones, the new Asus ROG Phone is also coming with the cooling feature and the company has introduces a new cooling method and it is called 3D vapour-chamber cooling system, the first among smartphones. Moreover, the device also features ultrasonic AirTrigger touch sensors, a gamer-centric design with side-mounted ports optimized for landscape-mode.
The device also features fingerprint scanner along with dual front facing speakers with the smart amplifier. Talking about connectivity, the device supports 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB Type-C, NFC, and GPS. The device runs on Android Oreo 8.1 which is based on “ROG Gaming” ZenUI, and the Asus ROG Phone is backed on 4,000 mAh, with 20W fast charging.
Accessories
The device also comes with the optional TwinView Dock for dual-screen handheld mode, along with a Mobile Desktop Dock for desktop-style gaming. The device also has a Gamevice controller with WiGig Dock using 60GHz Wi-Fi for big-screen gaming. And the ROG Phone also includes features like Asus Aura RGB lighting and Aura Sync support and ASUS HyperCharge direct-charge technology.
Pricing and availability
Speaking about the pricing and availability, the company hasn’t shared both the pricing and availability details of the device but it did say that the device will make debut in the Indian market very soon.
