There is nothing new in the interest of Facebook in the field of hardware, we already have got many reports regarding various products which Facebook is working on. Well, now the social networking giant has announced a new product which is called Portal and it is meant for video chat.
With the all-new Portal, Facebook wants to make an easy way for family and friends to make video chats. And one of the highlighting features of the device is, it’s facial recognition software which allegedly will connect people automatically to their Facebook accounts. Moreover, the device is also capable to run apps like Spotify and Netflix. Facebook also says that this is just beginning and much more to come from Facebook in the future.
It is expected that the device will be launched with a price tag of $499, now a question pops up in my mind. Will people buy a device for such a huge amount, at the time when we can make video chats from a smartphones or tablets or even from computers. Moreover, one more thing we have Amazon Echo Show which is the main competitor for any device in this category is available for half of the price.
