Facebook earlier this week sent out a strange request to some users in Australia asking for Nudes to stop revenge porn.
This is looking weird, isn’t it? Facebook actually requested for Nudes from some users for trial. There is a big reason behind it. Any Nude photos or Videos uploaded to Facebook are converted into Digital Hash which in turns the image into Numerical Data. This was made perfectly with the help of Facebook’s AI which matches other user’s face in the uploads and blocks the upload if it is uploaded without the user consent.
Facebook has made a good attempt in stopping porn from being spread into entire social media system. This also made some controversies as someone from Facebook is going to watch all these uploads at some time during the conversion process. Facebook’s Global head of Safety Antigone Davis said: “The pilot, which is being run in partnership with Australia’s eSafety Commissioner’s Office, is completely voluntary and is a protective measure that can help prevent a much worse scenario where an image is shared more widely.”
This pilot method is completely an emergency option for Facebook to combat Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery and this step is yet to arrive and Facebook has to confirm whether this method will reach other regions too.
