The social media giant Facebook has announced its offering to rival the popular Clubhouse, which is an app that hosts multiple chat rooms with moderators and listeners. The alternative offered by Facebook is called Live Audio Rooms and it’s available in the US. The platform offers audio tools and several other features.
At present, the company has made Live Audio Rooms available to test for the users with the dates set for groups in summer. The company says that about 1.8 billion people use the Groups function every month and these are the people who will get access to Live Audio Rooms first. The company has roped infamous personalities such as Russel Wilson, and Olympic medalist, Nastia Liukin among others who would host the conversations. The company plans to bring the audio room to Messenger so that users can chat with their friends in the respective groups.
Along with Live Audio Rooms, the company will also offer Podcats that let you share long stories or conversations among friends. In addition, users can surf to find new podcats, favourite the one you like within the Facebook app or even while allowing it to run in the background. The users would be able to donate or give out “Stars” to support causes according to one’s liking. The company will also help hosts monetize the service with the help of single purchases or subscriptions.
