Both devices support the Garmin Pilot app and that will be offering avionics data, navigation information, and crew alerts. The devices also support on-device voice commands for actions like starting a fly activity or requesting METAR data. Pilots will be enabled to record geo-referenced voice memos during flights. The devices also feature Garmin Messenger app and the same supports two-way texting from the wrist.
The D2 Air X15 features a 1.4-inch AMOLED display and it is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The device also features a stainless steel or slate bezel, and a black silicone band. The watch face changes color based on METAR data and it also comes with a built-in LED flashlight that includes adjustable white light and a red light with night vision-friendly Red Shift mode. The device also comes with PlaneSync that will enable you to monitor aircraft status such as fuel and battery levels remotely.
It also supports GPS, HSI navigation, and a worldwide aeronautical database. It includes barometric altimeter alerts, METARTAF weather access, Pulse Ox for oxygen monitoring, flight logging, timers, sunrisesunset indicators, and multiple time zones. The device supports ECG, Body Battery, sleep tracking, HRV status, respiration tracking, stress tracking, hydration tracking, menstrual cycle logging, and jet lag advice. It also comes with animated workouts, daily suggested exercises, Garmin Coach plans, golf course maps, and recovery metrics.
While the D2 Mach 2 is adding a sapphire lens, titanium bezel, metal sensor guard, and leakproof buttons. The device also features the most detailed aviation maps Garmin has offered on a watch, with topography, terrain shading, and overlays for runways, airspace, and weather conditions. Pilots can monitor the flight path and customize the aircraft icon.
The latest Garmin D2 Mach 2 also supports weather alerts based on user-set personal minimums for conditions like wind speed and ceiling. The device brings a scuba diving profile, no-fly timer, and a 40m dive rating. It is available in 47mm with a leather band or 51mm with a DLC titanium bracelet, both with an extra silicone strap.
The latest D2 Air X15 offers up to 10 days in smartwatch mode and 20 hours in GPS fly mode. While the Mach 2 comes with up to 26 days in smartwatch mode and 58 hours with GPS and SpO2 active.
