The CES (Consumer Electronic Show) 2018 started on 9th January and during the show, a large number of companies take part in the CES annually to show their new products or new technologies which are never seen before.
Lenovo has started their year with a new range of Google Assistant powered displays called the Smart Display. They are available in two sizes – 8 and 10.1 inches. The idea is very similar to Amazon Echo Show, the only difference being the use of Google Assistant and Google’s software and features. The inclusion of a display is what we can see as new. Along with normal search, weather and music streaming capabilities, users can view Google Maps, Video call with friends and family via Google Duo and/or watch YouTube videos.
The hardware of both the displays is almost identical. They’re powered by an octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 624 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM and 4GB of internal ROM. Along with all this, there is also a 5MP front facing camera. The difference being the display size itself. The 8inch model comes with 1280X800 resolution while the 10.1 inches model comes with 1920X1200 resolution. The larger model weighs 200g more than the smaller one.
There’s auto rotation as well, so you can use the displays as per your requirement and the software will adjust accordingly. The two available colors are soft grey and natural bamboo color. Lenovo’s Smart Display will be available for purchase in around Summer 2018. The 8inch model will be priced at $199.99 while the 10.1-inch model will be priced at $249.99.
