Google Buys Fossil Smartwatch Tech

Back in last year, we heard some rumours that the Mountain View company Google will launch smartwatch along with its flagship devices Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL and other hardware products at the ‘Made by Google’ event. However, that didn’t happen in reality. But it seems that the company will launch the Pixel branded Smartwatch in this year, as the company acquires one of the popular watch band Fossil’s Smartwatch technology.

The tech giant Google buys the Smartwatch technology from the popular fashion and accessory firm Fossil, the company came to this deal for $40 million which translates 280 crores Indian rupees. And with this acquisition, Google now expanded its business in the growing wearable market. Speaking about the deal, the research and development team of Fossil will now work under the roof Google.

Well, now Google can able to give a head-to-head competition with the popular wearable makers like Apple, Fitbit and others with the Pixel branded smartwatches. Moreover, with Google’s own Wear OS, the company can able to give a more optimized and powerful setup in the devices which launch under the Pixel brand.
