The Mountain View company Google have dominance in all kinds of applications and services, but the company was not able to get success from the messaging. However, now the company is all set to solve this problem. As the company finally brings the RCS messaging feature for the users of Android.
What’s RCS?
RCS stands for Rich Communication Services and it is meant to replace the traditional SMS, and that can be dubbed as the chat service which will be connected and powered by Google instead of the mobile network. That’s not all, the RCS will offer more than the regular texting and similar to the WhatsApp or Facebook Messager. It will allow text formatting, video calls, media file attachments, emojis, and stickers. However, it doesn’t support end-to-end encryption.
Well, Google has announced that Android users in the UK and France can now opt-in to RCS Chat service, and when the users launch the Android Messages app, they’ll get a prompt which will allow you to upgrade to RCS Chat. The service will be available in the default app and it won’t be the default choice.
The company will make available in the UK and France from next month, Google says that it will release the services to more countries “throughout the year.”
