The Government of India has a new plan to showcase caller ID when a user receives a phone call on his device but the leading telecom operators are against the new planning of the state.
The government is having a new plan to show caller ID when a user receives a phone call and this will help to reduce spam and the plan is not mandatory as well. The body said that the recommended “Calling Name Presentation” (CNAP) should not be made mandatory, but network operators are free to implement the new setup if they want.
It is actually a really good thing as we can able to know about identity of a caller and this will also help users to avoid downloading third-party applications like Truecaller for the purpose.
However, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) which includes telcos such as Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vi (formerly Vodafone Idea) are against this particular planning,
It is said that the setup will not work on all mobile phones and it is also said that many technical issues will be involved like an increased load on signaling and the same will impact on latency and interconnection related problems.
