As we know that there’s a world shortage in both PC and Smartphone processors since the Covid-19 Pandemic, and because of these the 2nd tier companies like AMD and MediaTek are wide spreading in their respective sections. Talking about MediaTek, their Dimensity series are gaining very good feedback in midrange & budget flagship segments, especially the Dimensity 1200 5G chipset is one of the best value chipset of 2021. Now seems like MediaTek wants to level up even more in their Dimensity lineup. And that’s why, they launched the Dimensity Kompanio 1300T chipset. So, is it a successor to recently launched Dimensity 1200? Let’s find out.
Though the name suggests that it’s a successor, but actually it’s not. This new processor is nothing but the same Dimensity 1200, but specifically designed for Tablets. And actually, it’s not the first time MediaTek launched a tablet specific processor. It’s actually a successor to last year’s Dimensity Kompanio 1200 chipset. Kompanio is actually a MediaTek’s lineup for Tablet only chipsets. But we didn’t even know this because we hardly focus on any MediaTek powered Tablets. But that’s a different story. Coming back to Kompanio 1300T, it’s built on 6nm process with 4 powerful Cortex-A78 cores and 4 efficient Cortex-A55 cores. It has the nano core Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, which is a huge upgrade from its predecessor. All other features like built in 5G modems, dual 5G SIM support, up to 1440p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support, all are exact same as Dimensity 1200 for smartphones. Below is a detailed chart for the specs of this processor.
This processor will be seen in Tablets from Q3 (July to September) of 2021. Though neither MediaTek nor any OEM announced upcoming Tablet(s) with this processor, but rumors suggests that Honor V7 Pro will be the first Tablet launching in mid-August to have this new processor.
