And now the social networking giant is all set to roll out a new feature in India, which will help people to find blood donors.
From October 1st, the day celebrates for National Blood Donor Day, Facebook users in India will be able to sign up as blood donors. Users of the Facebook will able to see a message in News Feed, which will encourage to sign up as a blood donor. Alternately, you can also edit your Profile to become a blood donor. All the information will be set to “only me” by default, but you can also share the donor information on timelines.
And when a person or an organization needs blood, they will be able to create a “special type of post” which will include all the information the donors would require to help those in need. Once the post is created, nearby donors will be notified, and if the donor wish to help, can able to respond directly via Messenger, WhatsApp or phone call. And don’t worry about the privacy, as the person or organization who created the post will not able to see donor’s information unless it’s provided by the donor himself.
Speaking about the availability of the feature, at the initial stage the feature will be available on Facebook’s Android app and mobile web, as Facebook says “these are the most widely-used platforms in India”.
Well, I think this is really a good and awesome move by the social networking giant. And I hope people will utilize the feature in those need-full situation.
