OnePlus is one of the most punctual OEM which gives good software support to their smartphones for long time. Now we can say that it give the support as long as Google gives to their Pixel smartphones. Earlier it was not the same, few smartphones in the beginning didn’t got that good support. But things changed after OnePlus 3/3T, from where OnePlus started to get mainstream recognition. It’s been 3 years from the launch and still we are getting the updates. Now seems like it’s time to get one last update on both devices.
About The Update :
OnePlus has started to roll-out new and last update for their 2016 duo OnePlus 3/3T. This is a farewell update as committed by company’s Software Maintenance Schedule. According to that all smartphones from OnePlus 3 onwards will get 24 months of software updates and 36 months of security updates. In this case the software updates stopped from last year, and security updates are supposed to stop from November 2019 i.e. 36 months after OP3T launch (OP3 will get same update cycles as OP3T).
Talking about the update, this is just a security update which gives Security Patch of October 2019. Apart from it this update also carries updated GMS apps. & As usual the mandatory General bug fixes and improvements. OnePlus says that this update has started rolling out on few devices, and if no major bugs are spotted then it will roll over to all in coming days. So keep your eye on notifications, or to check manually then go to Settings – System – System Updates. We don’t know the size of this update but it won’t be too big for a security patch.
My Thoughts :
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Personally being a OnePlus 3 user since last 3 years, I am very happy with the software support OnePlus has given. They gave 3rd Android update of Android Pie as well, which got delayed for a long time but eventually got it. Many other OEMs pricing their smartphones double don’t get 3rd Android update. As of now I am happy using my OP3, and apart from low battery life and few minor hardware related issues, this device is working decently.
If you are a OnePlus 3 user, will you shift to new smartphone or continue using your device? Let us know in the comment section below. Also stay tuned with us for more information.
