A couple of months ago, we updated that NPCI is planning to implement a new set up that will enable users to make payments from different countries using the UPI payment method. Well, now it has been implemented and the very popular payments app PhonePe has officially launched the cross-border UPI payments, under UPI International.
The users of PhonePe now can able to use their Indian bank accounts to make payments at merchant outlets in the UAE, Singapore, Mauritius, Nepal, and Bhutan,
UPI International, introduced by the cross-border arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI International Payments Limited), facilitates UPI transactions for the Indian diaspora abroad. It is also planning to roll out UPI International to more countries in the coming months of this year.
The new facility will definitely help users to make payments while travelling and we believe that more payments app will adopt the same in the coming days.
