The popular mobile chipset maker Qualcomm is on the headlines for the upcoming and the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile processor which is expected to be announced on October 26. But today the company has made a new headline which is really disappointing as the company has announced that it is laying off employees in response to sluggish demand for its products.
It is revealed that the company will be firing 1,258 positions in San Diego and Santa Clara, California and the announcement will be effective on December 13. It is worth mentioning that the layoffs represent about 2.5% of Qualcomm’s workforce.
Moreover, it is also said that over 750 of the positions being cut are in the engineering department of the company and the positions range from directors to technicians.
The new announcement again confirms about the slowdown in the industry as we witness similar announcements from other brands including Twitter, Meta, and many others.
