Qualcomm has made multiple new announcements during the MWC 2024 event including the latest Qualcomm AI Hub, the Snapdragon X80 5G modem, and the FastConnect 7900 connectivity system. So let’s get into the article to check out the full details.
Qualcomm AI Hub
This will help developers as the same comes with a library of over 75 AI models optimized for Qualcomm and Snapdragon platforms that includes the likes of Whisper, ControlNet, Stable Diffusion, and Baichuan 7B.
It is also confirmed that the company will be adding new AI models as well as support for more platforms and operating systems.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System
The newly announced Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System is said to be the world’s first 5G modem with fully integrated NB-NTN satellite communications support this eliminates the demand for a dedicated chipset for satellite connectivity. It also features a six-antenna architecture for smartphones, 6X carrier aggregation for sub-6GHz bands, and AI-powered mmWave range extension for fixed wireless access customer premise equipment aka CPE. It also comes with a dedicated tensor accelerator for throughput, latency, coverage, power efficiency, quality of service, spectrum efficiency, and mmWave beam management improvements.
It is said to provide a peak download speed of 10Gbps and a peak upload speed of 3.5Gbps. It is expected to be available commercially by the second half of this year.
Qualcomm FastConnect 7900
Qualcomm FastConnect 7900 is a mobile connectivity system and the same integrates Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, and Ultra Wideband (UWB) technologies on a single 6nm chip. It also comes with the power of AI and it can adapt to different scenarios and surroundings to deliver superior connectivity. It supports Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and Wi-Fi 7 with a peak speed of 5.8Gbps and the same is compatible with Bluetooth 5.4. It will be available by the second half of this year.
