The new Red Magic Gaming Astra 2 is officially launched with dual USB-C ports along with a 9.06” 185Hz OLED display and more. The device is actually a rebranded variant of the Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro which was introduced in the Chinese market, a few days ago. The device has the power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor along with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. The device also comes with the RedMagic RedCore R4 gaming chip and Synaptics S3930T Touch chip. It also features a 9.06-inch OLED display along with up to an 185Hz refresh rate, 2.4K screen resolution, 1600 nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, a 300Hz global touch sampling rate and up to 2000 Hz instantaneous touch response. The device is also SGS-certified hardware-level low blue light protection as well.
It comes with RedMagic’s 12-layer AquaCore Cooling System 2.0 powered by three core elements: flowing liquid cooling, liquid metal 3.0 and a large vapour chamber. It is backed by an 8,300 mAh battery along with up to 75W dual USB-C fast charging and bypass charging. The device also supports DTS:X Ultra 3D stereo, dual 1227 speakers featuring N’Bass acoustic enhancement materials, and dual 0815 X-axis linear motors with 4D Haptic Feedback.
The device runs on RedMagicOS 11.5 based on Android 16. It also features a 9MP front camera and 13MP rear camera. The device can be connected to external displays with 4K @144FPS or 8K@60FPS wired video support for a wide view and better visuals. Bluetooth 6.0 and WiFi. The device also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, IP54 rating, Magic Key, customisable RGB Light and fingerprint sensor.
Regarding the pricing and availability, the device has a starting price of $699, and the official sale will commence on 26th August.
