Samsung is celebrating innovative day today, with the unveiling of Galaxy S10 series and Galaxy Fold. The S10 series has many exciting specs and features whereas Galaxy Fold is the future of mobile technology. But Samsung isn’t stopping yet. This year Samsung wants to be ahead in connectivity as well, and that’s why they unveiled the Galaxy S10 5G. As the name suggests it has full-fledged 5G connectivity. But apart from 5G support, there are few more things in this smartphone as compared to Galaxy S10+. So lets have a look.
This is the biggest Galaxy S smartphone ever. It sports a 6.7 inch of Quad HD+ AMOLED display with 3040 x 1440 resolution and 502 ppi. It has support for HDR+ for a better viewing experience. The aspect ratio is 19:9 and Gorilla Glass 6 covers all these. It comes with two chipset variants; Exynos 9820 octa core processor built on the 8mm process and Qualcomm’ Snapdragon 855 proccessor built on the 7mm process. It has Mali-G76 MP12 and Adreno 640 GPU respectively. It comes with only one storage configuration i.e. 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, without expandable storage option. I was hoping this to get 512GB of storage due to the fact that it has 5G connectivity.
Coming to the camera, it is almost identical to Galaxy S10+. The primary is a 12MP sensor with f/1.5 dual aperture lens and dual pixel OIS. Secondary is also a 12MP sensor but with f/2.4 telephoto 2x zoom lens, autofocus, and OIS. Lastly, the third one is the 16MP sensor with f/2.2 ultra wide angle (133) lens but with fixed focus. Things change here a bit with a TOF camera for 3D depth sensing. It can record videos up to 4K at 60fps, 1080p at 240fps, and 720p at 960fps. On the front, there is a 10MP sensor with a f/1.9 lens and Dual Pixel PDAF, and also a secondary 8MP depth sensor with f/2.2 lens and dual pixel autofocus. This device also has 4K video recording option from the front camera. Other camera features are AR Emojis, Stickers, and live focus. The front setup also has a TOF camera.
This Galaxy S10 5G runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Samsung’s One UI on top. It packs in a 4500mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. It has 15W fast wireless charging as well as PowerShare reverse charging technology. It has stereo speakers with Dolby ATMOS support and 3.5mm headphone jack with 32-bit sound. For connectivity, it obviously has 5G, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, GPS, NFC, aptX HD, and Type-C port. It weights at 198 grams and is 7.9mm thick. It has only Prism White color option.
Pricing & Availability:
- It will be available in Springs this year.
- No exact date or regions are available as of now.
- No pricing details are available as of now.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. I found this a great device, but I think that Samsung could have cut down this smartphone by giving same specs in Galaxy S10+. But on the other side this decision is good also, because 5G is not available at least for this year in many important regions. Anyways, nice to see something new is coming in smartphone market.
