If we talk about the smartphone explosions, biggest incident was the 2016’s Galaxy Note 7 one. That was the biggest accident for a tier 1 brand in the history of smartphones, with the loss of more than 2 Billion Dollars. Even now many flight services do announce ‘Not to carry Galaxy Note 7 on flight’ before the take-off. We have heard several other incidents of smartphone explosions, now today we have another one. A Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 was caught in fire & exploded in Bangalore, India. So let’s dig into this.
As you can see from the image above, the phone was exploded & caught fire very badly. The phone was in the Matte Black colour, but due to the intensive fire, it turned out into Gold. The Camera & Fingerprint sensor are completely damaged and top/bottom areas are also completely damaged. Now in the 2nd image above, you will notice that the side is also completely damaged and the back got open as well.
Amit Bhawani from PhoneRadar Blogs got the CCTV footage of the shop where this explosion happened. As you can see from the video above, you will notice that Arjun (owner of Redmi Note 4) is trying to insert the SIM card in his new phone and the shopkeeper takes the phone from him to insert the SIM. As soon as he inserted the SIM tray into the phone, it was caught by fire completely and shopkeeper threw the phone. This incident was happened on 17th July and Arjun has already given the phone to service centre but he hasn’t got any response from Xiaomi. He also filed a FIR at the local police station. The photo of FIR & the retail invoice are given below.
As of now there’s no other information from Xiaomi about the reason of explosion and what will they do for Arjun. Will they give a new unit of Redmi Note 4 or they will refund the amount ? Also will they state the actual reason of explosion to the public ? These are the questions which need answers as soon as possible. What are your thoughts on the same?
