Over the past 1-2 years, we are hearing things about foldable display technology in smartphones. We heard that foldable smartphones will debut in next 2 or maybe 3 years. Reports says that Samsung has even showcased the prototype of their foldable smartphone to some VIPs at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. There are some other OEMs like ZTE who are also working towards this technology. Now seems like another popular OEM is taking interest in this technology.

Reports are coming that Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has signed a patent for foldable display technology. According to the illustrations, this phone will have horizontal fold design, which means it can be folded in horizontal side. To take the output from rear camera you need to unfold the device, as while the phone is unfolded, one side can be used to take calls and other side for taking selfies with front camera. Talking about camera there will be a dual rear facing camera on this phone as well. Also the unfolded phone looks very similar to Samsung Galaxy Note Edge from the front due to the curve on right side and thick bottom & top bezels.

So that’s all the information we have as of now. As this one is just an outline illustration don’t take this design too seriously, things change a lot over the course of time. But if you look at this design, what are your thoughts on the same? Do share your thoughts in the comments below. Also stay tuned with us for more information.
