Back in last month, the Chinese smartphone brand Vivo unveiled the most innovative device called Vivo NEX. That said, the company unveiled two devices in the NEX branding – Vivo NEX S and Vivo NEX A. Well, the Vivo NEX S is the device which made the entire smartphone lovers fan of the device. That said, this smartphone is actually the Vivo APEX which we saw during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event every in this year for the first time. So, as expected the company has launched the smartphone (Vivo NEX S) in the Indian market as Vivo NEX.
This smartphone has a bezel-less with excellent 91.24 % screen to body ratio. The bezels are extremely slim, and also without that so-called Notch “feature”. For receiving calls Vivo also implemented SoundCasting Technology which transforms the display into a speaker by producing vibrations through the display to emit the sound.
The device supports the in-display fingerprint sensor that’s similar to Vivo’s own X21 UD, which launched in India as Vivo X21. The front camera is switched to top of the device, it will slide out from the top. The company is calling it Elevator Camera, as it slides like an elevator. Having said that, the back of the device is made up of glass back.
The device sports a 6.59 inch Super AMOLED display with 19.3:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ (2316×1080) resolution. It has Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 octa core processor clocked at 2.7 Ghz along with Adreno 630 GPU. It has 8GB of RAM and 128/256 storage options, but the company launched a 128 GB storage variant in the country.
Moving to the camera department, the primary rear camera is a 12MP sensor with f/1.8 lens, 1.4µm, 4 axis OIS, PDAF, and the secondary rear camera is a 5MP sensor with f/2.4 lens. On the front there’s an 8MP camera with f/2.0 lens, Portrait Mode, Face Beauty and AR Stickers, and as mentioned the Elevator Camera. Also as this is 2018 smartphone, it’s mandatory to mention that this camera is also AI-powered. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with FunTouch OS 4 on top. There’s also Jovi Voice Assistant, the AI-powered assistant by Vivo along with a dedicated button.
It packs in a 4,000 mAh battery with 22W fast charging support. Regarding connectivity, it has 4G LTE, dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack with 32bit audio support. Speaking about the pricing and availability, the device has the price tag of ₹44,990 and it will be available on Amazon India, Vivo India website and selected retail stores from July 21.
