We all know that Xiaomi is one brand which is very aggressive in terms of pricing yet giving best possible quality (not really best, but can’t expect more). There pricing of products, especially smartphones is very aggressive in countries like India. In February they launched one of the most popular phone of this year as well as a game changer in television market i.e. Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi TV 4 55 inch, respectively. Both these devices were launched at a very aggressive pricing. But now thing are going to change a bit, in terms of pricing.
Mi fans! In order to ramp up supply for #RedmiNote5Pro & #MiTV4 (55), we're marginally increasing the prices. This is because of the recent changes in PCBA import taxes & INR depreciation.
This will help us bring more units to all of you!

Today Xiaomi has increased the pricing of two of their most popular product as of now i.e. Redmi Note 5 Pro 64GB variant and Mi TV 4 55 inch variant. Both these devices are launched with a lot of interesting specifications as well as at a very competitive price. The Redmi Note 5 Pro 64GB variant was launched with a price of INR 13,999 whereas the Mi TV 4 55 inch variant at INR 39,999. Now from today there pricing is listed with an increase at both Flipkart as well as Mi.com. The pricing of Redmi Note 5 Pro is now increased by INR 1,000 and Mi TV 4, pricing by INR 5,000. So the current pricing is INR 14,999 for Note 5 Pro 64GB variant and INR 44,999 for Mi TV 4 55 inch variant.
The two reasons which Xiaomi pointed out to be the reasons for the price hike is availability and tax. Xiaomi said in a letter that due to the excessive demand of Redmi Note 5 Pro, they need to import more PCBA. It will increase the cost of productivity. For the Mi TV 4, they are planning to import extra TVs than usual to fill the demand gap. Importing both PCBAs and Mi TV 4 will be charged more import duties due to some changes in Indian laws. Also, the value of Indian currency is fallen down in an international stock market, thus increasing more taxes and price hike in many fields.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. I would say despite this price hike, both devices are still a good value for money. But things might get a bit difficult for Redmi Note 5 Pro, as Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is launched with similar specs, fee better sides, and lower price. But the good thing is that now the 6GB RAM variant is not at all a bad deal. So what are your thoughts on this news? Do share them in the comment section below.
