Qualcomm on 8th Feb announced a tie-up with some major smartphone and telecom hardware makers for commitments to use its next major cellular modem product, the X50, which will support the next-generation 5G technology. Taiwanese manufacturer MediaTek unveiled a new MT6739 chipset along with a biosensor module at an event in Delhi. Last year, we had reported that Google has signed a $1.1 Billion deal with Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC. Now according to a short Google blog post that the merger has finally completed bringing in the core design team from HTC to the Mountain View company. Google says it’s getting about 2,000 engineers, designers, and support staff from the deal. The employees won’t have to relocate as Google already has extensive operations in HTC’s native Taiwan.
