Companies like Apple and Google do set special events where they launch a bunch of their products. Seems like Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is going on the same path. Today they launched their most awaited smartphone i.e. Mi 8, special Mi 8 Explorer Edition, lite version Mi 8 SE and the new version of their own skin i.e. MIUI 10.
Seems like they didn’t stop here as they also launched few other gadgets. These gadgets include small sized Mi Band 3, normally sized Mi VR Standalone headset, and the huge Mi TV. Now let’s see what all these packs inside.
Mi Band 3:
This one was earlier teased by the company and few rumours were also floating around. It’s predecessor, the Mi Band 2 was a big hit in fitness band market. Now this Mi Band 3 sports a bigger 0.78 inch OLED display with 128×80 resolution, which is a good resolution for a fitness band. This time Xiaomi decided to remove the navigation button and make this a touch screen fitness band. This is a waterproof band for up to 50 meters in water but no IP rating is mentioned. Xiaomi claims 20 days if battery life with this, same as the predecessor. As this is a fitness band, all necessary tracking features are available including the heart rate sensor.
Xiaomi also unveiled a new variant of this band, but the only advantage of this new variant is NFC support. The regular one doesn’t have NFC, while this another variant has. Regular Mi Band 3 is priced at ¥169 ($26, ₹1,780) and NFC variant is priced at ¥199 ($31, ₹2,096). The regular variant will be available in China from 5th June whereas the NFC variant will take a long time, and will be available from September. No information about availability in other countries yet.
Mi VR Standalone:
This is the most premium VR headset Xiaomi has ever made, and this one is made with the partnership of famous VR makers i.e. Oculus. Back in January, both companies partnered together and this is the result of this partnership. This Mi VR Standalone has Snapdragon 821 processor, 2k resolution display, inbuilt speaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a remote controller to control this headset. Also, this headset doesn’t require any smartphone, PC or TV to work. No information on pricing and availability as of now.
Mi Led TV:
Now here comes the largest product of today’s launch, the Mi TV. This is the biggest Mi TV Xiaomi has ever made, and the screen size of this TV is whopping 74 inch. This is a 4k LED display with HDR 10 support. This one also has Xiaomi’s AI voice assistant for controlling the TV via the voice itself. According to Xiaomi, ‘It allows users to immerse in a theatre like an experience right in their living rooms’. No information about pricing and availability as of now.
